Ding Dong! December 2025
It’s the start of a bright new year and although most of the Front Door Communications team are currently made up of two-parts cheese and one-part Toblerone, we’re back in business and ready for whatever 2026 brings.
There’s something about January that makes you want to put on the blinkers and stare straight ahead into whatever the future holds, but before we put 2025 behind us, there are a few highlights from December that we think deserve celebrating.
First off is online budgeting tool IE Hub, which had a strong start to the new year after CCO Gareth Llewellyn appeared on ITV Wales to discuss energy prices rising from 1 January. Gareth talked to ITV’s Kate Lewis about rising bills and the pressure this puts on households already juggling their costs.
In national news, one of our proudest moments of recent weeks has been seeing client Dr Bernadette Hard feature in BBC News Online and across its socials to discuss her sudden onset CSF Leak while on holiday in Malta.
Although not commonly known, a cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leak is a debilitating medical condition caused by a small tear or hole in the outer membrane containing the fluid surrounding the spinal cord and brain. It is often misdiagnosed, and women aged 30-40 are particularly at risk.
Following a very complicated surgery, Dr Bern feels she’s been given her life back and has become a trustee of the CSF Leak Association, which we are very proud to be working with to help raise as much awareness as possible about this life-altering condition.
Over the past few months, we’ve been working with chef Tom Simmons on the relaunch of his beloved Pontcanna restaurant, Thomas the Brasserie, which has had a lovely feature in Wales Online over the Christmas period.
We first worked with Tom and his team on the launch of Thomas, Pontcanna just weeks before the pandemic hit, and it has been amazing to see the restaurant welcome fine dining fans from near and far over the past six years. We’re now very excited to be looking after the PR for its new phase as a brasserie, where you can expect the same fantastic food but made affordable for all.
Also welcoming in a new phase is long time client Go.Compare, which has launched its new ad campaign over the festive season featuring none other than football legend Ian Wright!
The ad, which celebrates Go.Compare’s brand-new ‘Now That’s Savvy’ campaign, ran nationwide over Christmas and was featured across the trade press after an exclusive look with Campaign Mag.

It’s been a bumper month for the insurance comparison site, which also saw a wave of fantastic coverage for its taxi mishaps campaign, which revealed all the weird (and sometimes illegal) things Brits get up to in taxis during party season.
Our favourite admissions included backseat karaoke, falling asleep mid-conversation, and sticking your head out of the window like an excitable dog – although the latter is definitely illegal if you’ve taken your seatbelt off to do so. You can read all about taxi mishaps in regionals from around the UK, including Oxford Mail, Chester Standard and the South Wales Argus, among many more.
Finally, it wouldn’t be December without a Christmas do and we had a fab one this year at Parallel in Cardiff, followed by a night of karaoke which was an eye opener for us all. Front Door Lisa stole the show with her rendition of Simply the Best (“who’s the best?!”) though a special mention goes to Front Door Rachel who performed a number of times and quite frankly, couldn’t be stopped.
It was a fantastic end to the year and now that it’s done, we’re ready and raring for everything that 2026 brings, so tune in next month to hear about how we’ve kickstarted our January plans.
Until then!
