CSF Leak Association
Front Door Communications assisted with the launch of the CSF Leak Association’s new documentary, crafting social media content to build awareness around the charity, increase its audience and build a buzz around the new educational film.
The Client
The CSF Leak Association is a registered charity committed to raising awareness of Cerebrospinal Fluid (CSF) leaks, the risk factors and treatment options, as well as supporting recovery for CSF leak patients.
The association provides support and guidance to sufferers and their families, as well as campaigning for advances in the diagnosis and treatment of the condition.
CSF leaks can be debilitating and life-changing, rendering sufferers unable to function normally. Common symptoms include severe headaches, which may occur while standing or sitting yet be relieved while lying down. CSF leak sufferers may also experience head pressure and heaviness, dizziness, tinnitus, hearing loss, blurry vision, and a range of other symptoms.
The Work
Front Door Communications was asked to create a combined PR and social media strategy for the launch of the charity’s new documentary, CSF Leak Revealed: The Hidden Stream Behind Severe Head Pain. The aim was to boost views of the video, increase the charity’s profile, and to promote conversations about CSF leaks.
Front Door secured a number of high-profile pieces of coverage in broadcast, print and digital media. This included interviews and features across BBC television and radio, and articles in The Telegraph and BBC online.
Simultaneously, the FD team published a series of five social media posts, including short-form video and static imagery. These five posts reached a combined audience of just over 270,000 people and generated a huge amount of engagement, with commenters expressing their support for the charity and sharing their own experiences.

Kind Words
“Working with FD Comms has been an extremely positive and effective experience. From the outset, the team demonstrated a strong understanding of both the sensitivity of the subject matter and the strategic opportunities to reach a wide public audience. They were thoughtful, professional, and genuinely committed to telling the story well.
“The results speak for themselves. The social media campaign generated over 270,000 views across platforms, and this digital engagement was matched by significant national media coverage, including articles in The Telegraph and the BBC, as well as features on BBC television and radio. The associated documentary has now received over 5,000 views, extending its reach well beyond our immediate networks.
“What stood out most was FD Comms’ ability to combine clear strategic direction with supportive, collaborative working. They created the space for the story to be told authentically, while ensuring it landed with impact. Their guidance throughout the process was calm, responsive, and grounded in a strong understanding of both media and audience.
“Beyond the metrics, the work has had tangible real-world outcomes. Awareness of the issue has grown substantially, and the charity has already attracted a new volunteer as a direct result of the campaign. We are very grateful to FD Comms for their role in amplifying this work and would happily recommend them to others looking for thoughtful, effective communications support.”
