Ding Dong! It’s July 2024

Welcome back to everyone’s favourite news update, the Front Door Communications ding dong! July has been and gone in a flurry of activity and a continuous and somewhat depressing lack of summer vibes. The sun gods may not have been shining down on us this month, but the PR gods certainly were!!

Much going on for the team at Front Door Communications this month, starting with the official launch of Gwalia United. A relatively new addition to our beloved clients list, women’s football team Gwalia began life in 1975 and has been ‘Cardiff City Ladies FC’ since 1999 until deciding it was time for a new era.

The club is Wales’ only representatives in the English women’s football pyramid, and wanted a name that signified a new feeling of unity, heritage, excellence, pride, resilience and inclusion! The new team name, Gwalia, is the Medieval name for Wales and we think it’s a perfect fit.gwalia captain teaching kids football in a fieldFront Door attended a brilliant launch event for Gwalia at Penpych Community Primary School this July, where former pupil and captain, Cori Williams-Mills, as well as player Lauren Davies, kicked off its official rebrand at with a training session for the schoolchildren. You can read all about it in the Welsh press or at SheKicks here.

In further exciting Wales news, Christmas at Bute Park has launched a special ‘kids go free’ offer for any tickets booked during the summer holidays which you can read about in Wales Online, the South Wales Argus, the Penarth Times and more. We’ve also been working with some wonderful influencers in the Cardiff space on spreading word about everything you can expect from the festive spectacular this year!a little boy at christmas at bute parkIt’s been a brilliant month for MyVoucherCodes, whose research on how much grandparents will have to spend on looking after grandchildren during the summer holidays (spoiler, it’s £15.80, on average, per day!) has been featured all over the news, including 44 publications across the regionals and nationals. Some of the highlights included The Independent, Daily Mirror in print, The Sun and the Birmingham Mail so check it out if you get the chance.

Speaking of Birmingham, it was all about the West Midlands for us this month as construction skills client The Skills Centre had a visit from Richard Parker, the Mayor for the West Midlands, to announce his proposals for tackling youth unemployment in the region.

Speaking at one of The Skills Centre’s flagship sites, Mayor Parker has pledged to work with businesses to create 20,000 new work experience placements, training placements and apprenticeships for young people, including those offered by The Skills Centre. The day was a huge success and saw a lot of coverage across broadcast and online, including BBC News, ITV Central who came for filming, Business Insider and more.

We were also very chuffed to welcome a new client this month, civil and structural engineering firm Cambria Consulting, which is based in our beautiful former stomping ground at Penarth Marina. Cambria has enlisted the help of Front Door Communications for its ongoing PR, content and social media strategy and we couldn’t be more excited to get cracking.

Finally, Front Door’s Rosie and Beth could be found hovering around the Domino’s pizza table at the FinTech Wales summer social this July too. Held at the very swish Atradius building ‘down the bay’, the FinTech Wales team put on a fantastic networking event-come- all round celebration of fintech collaboration in Wales. We had a chance to catch up with so many lovely people and hear about a number of exciting things on the horizon for the fintech scene. Roll on the next!

And that’s a wrap from us on this month’s ding dong. We’re off to watch the Olympics and dream of warmer days…

Love, Front Door

Ding Dong! May 2024

It’s all been going on at Front Door Communications this month – some of us are at exotic airline conferences in Hamburg, others have been at Battersea Power Station hosting a charity glow-up event, but the one thing that has united us all is our (possibly) unhinged idea to climb the Principality Stadium… Kicking off … Continued
