Ding Dong! It’s the May 2026 round-up

1 1
Author: Rubie Barker

Welcome to the Front Door May 2026 round-up. It’s been a big month for the team, from a successful awards season for our clients to delivering even more media training, May has given us plenty to shout about. As we dive into June, here’s a quick look back at what the last month had in store for Front Door.

The Father’s Day spending trend uncovered by MyVoucherCodes

Research from MyVoucherCodes found that Dads come out on top when it comes to gift spending. The data showed that Brits are spending more on gifts for Dads and Stepdads on average, with nearly £15 more spent on Father’s Day than on Mother’s Day.

With this in mind, and with a few Mams in the Front Door team, we were keen to push the story as far as possible.

We were chuffed to quickly land over 20 pieces of coverage, with MyVoucherCodes’ shopping expert Sarah-Jane Outten featuring in a range of news and business outlets, as well as the iPaper, Daily Mirror and Daily Mail, plus broadcast coverage on LBC and GB News.

Breaking out of comfort zones with Mind

In the last few months, Kath has been delivering media training to members of the Mind England network, the regional charities that deliver mental health services across England, travelling to Leeds, Birmingham and London.

Along the way, she has worked with around 20 dedicated charity professionals, helping them feel more confident collaborating with the press rather than shying away from the media.

It proved to be a really rewarding experience for both the trainees and Kath, as she shared her journalist mindset, showing just how rewarding working with the press can be.

A hail of coverage for GoCo

Once again, Go.Compare storms into May with another huge month of coverage.

The press office has been chock-a-block with the fast-moving news agenda, landing national features including this BBC article as insurance expert, Nathan Blackler, lent expertise as residents’ cars were barraged by ‘golf-ball’ sized hailstones!

Other highlights for GoCo include coverage on the energy price cap, Go.Compare’s road to Principality tournament and Air fryer users facing charges, to name just a few.

EA Global sparks conversation on AI and the future of work

As the May elections took over the press, EA Global turned its focus to the future of AI in the workforce.

We secured an opportunity for founder Charles Radclyffe to speak with BBC Wales’ Huw Thomas, sharing his view on how politicians need to prepare for AI’s impact on jobs. With many parties in the Senedd election on 7 May backing responsible AI use, Charles explored how measures like taxing companies a minimum wage for using AI could help limit job losses.

We were really pleased to see the piece picked up across radio, TV and online, helping bring Charles’s ideas to a much wider audience.

Awards Season

It’s always brilliant when we get to celebrate our clients’ achievements, and this May there’s been plenty.

winners of the IOD Wales awards stand on stage with their trophies in the air

We were delighted to see lots of our brilliant clients recognised with nominations at the IOD Wales awards:

  • Sarah Jones of FinTech Wales.

  • Kate Ablett, People and Operations Director at Mrs Buckét Cleaning Services.

And just the week after, our clients headed to the Cardiff Life Awards, where we were once again pleased to see them get recognition:

  • Christmas at Bute Park was also shortlisted for the Leisure and Tourism award.

And to end the night off:

  • Croeso Pubs Ltd won the Hospitality Group Award.

Last but not least, our own client Chambers Wales South East, South West and Mid held its annual Wales Business Awards, recognising Welsh businesses’ outstanding achievements of all shapes and sizes. Including:

  • Spacebands won Start Up Business of the Year Award 2026.
  • Monmouthshire Building Society was Highly Commended for the Professional Services Firm of the Year Award 2026.
