Ding Dong! It’s the April 2026 round-up

1 1
Author: Rubie Barker

April was a big month of networking breakfasts, student talks, media training, big client news and a lot of coverage. So as we get stuck into May, here’s a look back at some of the highlights from another busy month across Front Door.

Daring to Dream hits the right note

One of the standout client stories of April came from Daring to Dream, the charity supporting the emotional health and wellbeing of people living with longterm physical health conditions.

Front Door joined the team at Cardiff’s Norwegian Church as they launched the charity’s first official single, Here Together

Written and performed by Bridgend College music student Lylia Young, the track marks the start of Daring to Dream’s ‘Hear Us; Sing with Us’ campaign. The initiative is designed to bring the oftenhidden emotional impact of illness into the open and encourage people across Wales to listen, share and sing these experiences together.

The story struck a real chord, securing strong coverage across Business News WalesWales247News From Wales and a wide range of wellbeing and charity titles.

Leadership, skills and the future of fintech

Also in April, FinTech Wales hosted its April networking breakfast, sponsored by Educ8 Training Group at Confused.com HQ.

The breakfast panel tackled how leadership needs to evolve in a world increasingly shaped by technology and AI. From skills gaps to futureready teams and changing management styles, the chat offered honest insight from leaders navigating that change.

A huge thank you to Educ8 and Confused.com for hosting, and to panellists Tasmin Peckham, Grant Santos, Neil Williams and Timothy Kimball for such a thoughtful session.

Back to uni (and inspiring the next generation)

For our Rosie, there was a trip down memory lane as she returned to Cardiff University to meet Dr Amy Yau’s finalyear Advertising and Marketing Communications Management students.

Rosie talked through what it’s like working at an agency and what working in PR and communications looks like day to day, and touched on her own career journey since graduating.

Getting teams media ready 🎥

During the month, Kath was also out and about, delivering media training in both London and Birmingham for a national charity.

Drawing on her experience as a former journalist, Kath focused on helping participants see the media as an opportunity rather than something to fear. The emphasis was on authenticity, empathy and explaining complex issues in a clear, human way, with a touch of crisis comms covered.

A headline moment for FinTech Wales

It was also a big month for FinTech Wales, with the announcement of its first-ever FinTech Festival and an impressive headline speaker.

Anne Boden MBE, founder and former CEO of Starling Bank, was revealed as the keynote. Coverage landed across Business News WalesWales247 and Fintech Finance News. It’s a major moment for the Welsh fintech sector and an exciting milestone as momentum continues to build.

Go.Compare everywhere (again)

April was another huge month, with more than 300 pieces of coverage and over 85% including links.

The press office was flat out responding to a fastmoving news agenda, achieving national features including The Telegraph where the pros and cons of driveway conversions were debated. And there were plenty of syndicated regional stories including coverage on car insurance pitfalls, travel insurance amid European fuel shortages ( ITIJ ), broadband mistakes that could cost consumers money, plus more.

Preparing for the month ahead

Lots of April was spent organising upcoming broadcast interviews and applying for client awards, which are taking place in May. This means lots of exciting awards nights to attend, which are likely to be fuelled by CoffiLab, thanks to Pontcanna’s latest coffee shop being less than a two-minute walk from the office…
