Ding Dong! It’s August 2024
Ding dong! It’s time for another edition of the Front Door Comms monthly update – and what an August it’s been. From Strictly Come Dancing to school dinners, we’ve had a lot on our plates (wahey) this month.
Kicking things off, it wouldn’t be an August update without shouting out the team members at Front Door who travel up to Green Man Festival every year and work their socks off to make sure everything runs as smoothly as possible during those four sunny (or not) days.
This year, FD’s Kath, Jess, Rubie, Francesca and Rosie were on-site at the festival in Crickhowell looking after attending press, arranging broadcast interviews and offering support to the Green Man team. We’re chuffed to say that everything went brilliantly for 2024 and there’s been some ace coverage to boot – from stellar regional reviews to broadcast pieces live from ITV Wales and BBC News. We also love this piece from Wales Online, which encapsulates what Green Man is all about perfectly.
It’s also been a great month for new client DPP Planning, which announced the promotion of three of its staff members to senior roles within the business and had some lovely coverage across the regional and planning sector trade press. You can read all about DPP’s new appointments in Building Design and Construction, Business Insider, Planning Resource and Business News Wales among others this August.
Also enjoying some fantastic trade coverage is chef and entrepreneur Nick Collins, the founder of Cleverchefs and all-around food guru. Nick was featured in a full-page print spread in Contract Catering magazine’s August issue, discussing what’s trending for the new school year and the changing shape of menus for education caterers in 2024/25.
Alongside this feature, the Cleverchefs Group has also been in the spotlight this month for its contract win to provide school catering to Selwood Academy in Somerset. You can read all about the work Cleverchefs will be providing for the academy and its partner schools in Feast Magazine, Hospitality and Catering News and Public Sector Catering!
In consumer coverage, we worked with the lovely Ellie Murray-Playfair from client MyVoucherCodes on an expert comment for The Sun, explaining why vulnerable shoppers are paying more on the high street because they don’t have access to apps or the internet.
As a wheelchair user, shopping expert Ellie finds it hard to get her phone out regularly and so often misses out on discounts and vouchers that are only available through digital apps that need to be presented at a till. It’s a really insightful piece and you can read the full story here.
Another of our favourite consumer campaigns this month was for the wonderful Lottoland, which surveyed Brits to find out which little luxuries they would treat themselves to if they won lots of money. Topping the list were travelling premium when going on holiday, shopping in Waitrose and M&S and having fresh flowers in the house all the time! The full list is up at The Mirror, Express, Daily Star and a host of regional publications so plenty of chances to catch it.
Not only that, but one of the best things about working with a client like Lottoland is being able to celebrate jackpot wins and we were chuffed to announce this August that a lucky Scottish man won £640,000! The Scottish Sun shared Mr L’s story here which is worth a read if you want to simmer in jealousy for a few mins.
Finally, it’s been all excitement this month because (cue the music) DA DA DA DA DA DA DAAA friend of Front Door, Wynne Evans, has announced he’ll be swapping the ‘tache for a tan on Strictly 2024! We’re completely buzzing for Wynne and will be cheering him on all the way!! #WynnefortheWin #GoCoGlitterball
And that’s it from the team at Front Door this month – it’s back to school season and we’re off to buy a new pencil case.
Signing off!

Do you need a press office?
A well-run press office is one of the most important parts of any PR function but maybe the least talked about. In new business pitches, PR agencies will always talk about their successful campaigns but rarely mention their press office work – although it’s arguably one of the most important bits to get right in … Continued
Ding Dong! It’s July 2024
Welcome back to everyone’s favourite news update, the Front Door Communications ding dong! July has been and gone in a flurry of activity and a continuous and somewhat depressing lack of summer vibes. The sun gods may not have been shining down on us this month, but the PR gods certainly were!! Much going on … Continued
Campaign highlights: Celebrating Glow Orange 2024
This year, Front Door has had the pleasure of working on Glow Orange 2024, a national charity campaign driving awareness and support for Prader-Willi Syndrome Association UK. From Battersea Power Station to Belfast Castle, famous national buildings and structures were glowing orange in support of a fantastic, hardworking charity and we were honoured to have … Continued
Ding Dong! May 2024
It’s all been going on at Front Door Communications this month – some of us are at exotic airline conferences in Hamburg, others have been at Battersea Power Station hosting a charity glow-up event, but the one thing that has united us all is our (possibly) unhinged idea to climb the Principality Stadium… Kicking off … Continued
