Kath Chadwick

Director

Kath Chadwick is a director and a co-founder of Front Door Communications.

Her deep-rooted knowledge of the regional and national media landscape, built up through two decades living and working as a journalist in Wales, underpins the support she now provides to Front Door clients based regionally, nationally and globally.

Formerly a producer with BBC Wales, Kath launched her career as a journalist on the Barry and District News and the South Wales Argus, before joining the BBC as an investigative reporter for Week In Week Out.

Her skills in uncovering the mismanagement of a children’s charity, illegally practicing vets and the Royal Television Society award-winning coverage and subsequent television programme into the Clywch Inquiry, as well as other professional misdemeanours across Wales, soon led her to work as a producer for radio documentary series Eye on Wales covering everything from the smoking ban, election hustings, TB in cattle and more.

From here she moved to a role producing BBC Radio Wales’ flagship business programme, Wales@Work alongside presenter Nick Servini, and also worked as a producer on Good Evening Wales and Crimewatch Roadshow. She was commissioned to produce a Radio 4 documentary focused on Newport Council and the Celtic Manor in the run up to the 2010 Ryder Cup.

Her move from journalism into PR came when she was offered a PR Manager role with Go.Compare where she remained for two years, before going freelance and ultimately setting up her own agency in Front Door Communications.

Kath is also a trustee of Thrive Group Wales, a social enterprise based in Port Talbot, which supports Thrive Women’s Aid.

A mother of two teenage sons, she divides her time between walking her spaniel Will, lifting heavy weights and enjoying a drink or two at her parents’ pub in the village that she lives in and grew up in near Pontypridd. She is a fluent Welsh speaker.

Lynsey Walden

Director

Lynsey has over 20 years’ experience in PR and digital marketing, having worked for agencies such as  Weber-Shandwick and Berkeley Communications, as well as previously working in-house at Lloyds Bank and Go.Compare.

At Go.Compare, Lynsey managed the digital marketing side of the business which included looking after the PR, SEO and social media for the brand, as well as developing the content strategy for the Go.Compare website.

She specialises in personal finance and FinTech PR at Front Door Communications and when she’s not here, she enjoys running and spending time with her daughter.

Jess Childs

Head of PR

Jess has worked with organisations in all sectors, and of all sizes, within an agency environment for most of her working life. It all started when the sports editor at the local newspaper where she worked went into labour a week earlier than planned, and Jess was swiftly moved from the advertising department and into the newsroom. Her interest in re-writing local cricket reports soon peaked, however, and Jess quickly moved into writing for news and through three regional newsrooms, before turning her hand to PR.

Since then, she has supported numerous corporate, public and third sector organisations in getting their message across to those who need to hear it. Clients past and present range from Principality Building Society to Ty Hafan Children’s Hospice, the Welsh Government to Green Man festival, Wales’ Commissioner for Employment and Skills to global recruiter Acorn by Synergie, and more. Her most well-known client so far (and possibly of all time) has to be Queen Elizabeth II, however, when Jess became involved in publicising the Mid Wales stretch of her Diamond Jubilee tour of the UK.

As Head of PR at Front Door, Jess draws on all that she has learned in devising, creating, managing and executing a wide range of campaigns through experiences like these to lead the team on all things PR-related, from both a creative and operational point of view. Outside of work, she is also the published author of two picture books – Ivy and the Rock and Ivy and the Mole – and spends the rest of her time either walking her dog Walt or driving two small children from one afterschool club to another.

Bethan Rees

Head of Digital

Beth has 10 years of experience in digital, content, and social media marketing. She joined Front Door in 2017 after having worked in book publishing for four years as a marketing consultant to new authors, heading up book launches, readings, viral social campaigns, and local outreach to help promote new release titles both in the community and online.

As Head of Digital, Beth’s experience is rooted in digital marketing, managing campaigns that stretch across paid social and PPC, website content and SEO, organic social media and influencer marketing for a variety of B2C and B2B clients.

Outside the realm of marketing, she is obsessed with theatre, eating and city hopping. However, most days you will find her wrestling to control her toddler and a very bouncy golden retriever, Coco.

1

Rosie Johns

Account Manager

Rosie’s marketing background includes roles at global and independent book publishers, not-for-profit businesses, arts organisations and marketing agencies. She specialises in data-led digital marketing with measurable results.

As Account Manager, her expertise spreads across content creation, social media, SEO and outreach. She’s managed campaigns, events and website launches for brands both large and small. She loves creating unique new content, as well as optimising what’s already there.

Rosie runs a small pottery business in her free time, in-between cuddling her rescue dog Mojo and looking after her four chickens. Rosie is currently on maternity leave.

Rubie Barker

Account Executive

Rubie is a recent English Literature MA graduate of Cardiff University where she also completed her undergraduate degree. Growing up in the English countryside, she moved to Wales for university in 2019 and has no plans on leaving any time soon. During her three years at Cardiff University’s Quench Magazine, she spent a year as music section editor, working closely with PRs and contributors to produce content for the award-winning student magazine, whilst also reviewing and interviewing chart-topping artists, including her favourite Sam Fender.

After completing a marketing internship with Green Man Festival (one of FD’s wonderful clients), she joined the Front Door team in 2023 as an Account Executive whilst finishing her master’s. She now works full-time with the team writing press releases, blogs and planning social media campaigns.

She balances her work life with her love for live music, exploring Cardiff’s coffee shops and cooking her housemates roast dinners!

Rachel Mainwaring

Account Manager

Rachel is a former journalist with more than 20 years of experience working for WalesOnline, Western Mail, South Wales Echo and Wales on Sunday. Working mainly in features, Rachel covered thousands of stores and, as a mum-of-two, shared the trials and tribulations of parenting in a weekly column. She loved nothing better than chasing a good celebrity story and interviewed hundreds of showbiz stars – Take That’s Gary Barlow remains her favourite!

Rachel left the newsroom to hone her skills as a communications consultant for three years before joining Front Door as an Account Manager.

When she’s not working, you’ll either find her on a long walk with her gorgeous dog Bertie and husband Andrew, singing at the top of her voice to Taylor Swift alongside daughter Molly or freezing pitch-side watching her son George play football.  She’s also partial a good book, keeping fit and enjoying a glass (or two) of Sauvignon Blanc with her friends.

Francesca Davies-Ruocco

Senior PR and Digital Marketing Executive

Francesca graduated from the University of Central Lancashire with a degree in Sports Journalism and Masters in Public Relations and Marketing. With over seven years of experience in PR and digital marketing, she began her career in the hospitality industry as marketing manager for many of the bars and clubs around Cardiff.

She then went on to join a sports PR agency where she created strategic social media and marketing campaigns and delivered key events for numerous clients including Porsche, the International Association of Athletics Federations, and Disability Sports Wales, followed by time with a fellow PR agency, working on campaigns for clients such as Admiral and Atradius. Francesca joined the Front Door team in July 2023, where her current role is Senior PR and Digital Marketing Executive and she works with clients such as Go.Compare and Vero.

If she’s not at the Principality Stadium watching the rugby or the Cardiff City Stadium watching the Welsh football team, you will normally find her eating out or hitting the shops. Her real passion is tennis however, which she has played since the age of 8 and is still on the courts week in, week out.
