Ding Dong! May 2024

It’s all been going on at Front Door Communications this month – some of us are at exotic airline conferences in Hamburg, others have been at Battersea Power Station hosting a charity glow-up event, but the one thing that has united us all is our (possibly) unhinged idea to climb the Principality Stadium…

Kicking off the month, Front Door worked with client Go.Compare on a cracking campaign to look at the top ten most expensive and cheapest cars to insure in 2024, with the Peugeot 206 coming in as the most affordable. Unsurprisingly, the most expensive car to insure was the Porsche Taycan at a whopping £1,200 a month! The campaign has had some fantastic coverage in the nationals, including Yahoo and The Sun, and has been syndicated across the UK regionals – we love to see it.

Alongside this, the wonderful team at Croeso Pubs have been celebrating their new ownership of the Bear’s Head in Penarth which has featured in the regional and hospitality press this May.

The pub in Windsor Road, Penarth, was formerly run by JD Wetherspoons, which announced its sudden closure in March when it decided not to renew the lease on the venue.  Croeso stepped in to take over the lease and will reopen The Bear’s Head’s doors in early July, which you can read about in Business Insider here or in Wales Online.Outside the Bear's Head in PenarthThe Front Door team have been all over the shop this month, with Director Kath jetting off to Hamburg for the Aircraft Interiors Expo 2024 alongside client Acro Aircraft Seating, which is showcasing its full range of seating at this year’s event.

Here we have airline seating expert Kath and some of the Acro team live from the world’s leading aircraft conference:Kath and the Acro team selfieBack on British soil, we celebrated Glow Orange day (31st May) at Battersea Power Station, one of nearly 40 famous landmarks from around the UK that were lighting up orange in support of charity Prader-Willi Syndrome Association UK.

The light up event marked the culmination of nearly six months of planning for Front Door Comms and our wonderful client Lottoland, whose charity partner PWSA UK needed support with raising awareness of the life-changing syndrome and its impact on families. Our Glow Orange campaign was a huge collaborative effort and we were over the moon to see so many landmarks getting involved, as well as so much coverage in the news spreading word of all the amazing work PWSA UK do. You can read all about the campaign in The Mirror, The Sun or The Express among lots of other places!battersea power station lit up orangeIn Green Man news this month, the shortlist for Green Man Festival’s emerging talent competition, Green Man Rising, has been announced. Welsh language singer Mari Mathias is among the top five who have been selected, alongside TTSSFU, ladylike, Nature Kids and The Orchestra (For Now).

The finalists will head to Cardiff on 13th June to perform at the city’s famous Clwb Ifor Bach, where a winner will be crowned. The winner will then open the Mountain Stage at Green Man 2024 in August, with the runners-up taking a spot on the Rising stage along with a video session filmed at the festival. Not long to go now!the mountain stage at green manWe were also delighted to welcome two new clients to the Front Door fold this May, Healthcare Clarity, a dedicated health insurance broker with a team of industry experts at the helm, and car subscription revolutionaries Wagonex, which we will be supporting across B2B PR and digital. Very exciting times at FD HQ!

Finally, we made the somewhat insane decision to climb the Principality Stadium in the name of team building – and we loved it! For anyone that hasn’t tried Scale yet, we’d definitely recommend giving it a go – the whole Front Door team climbed up the side of the Stadium to the roof one sunny (ish) morning and then zip wired back down.
